A One-Day Trip Approximate Schedule
The distance between the yellow arrow ends is a little over 2 miles. Expect to walk at least 5 miles in the course of the day (probably more, especially if you wish to do any sight seeing or walk to and along the parade route
(Pennsylvania Avenue the blue arrow) from the Capitol to the The White House
We will be in DC for approximately 11 hours total. Exact times are yet to be determined, but we expect to arrive early and stay until dusk.
Our excursion is for round-trip transportation only, and does not include tickets to the area close to the stage. You would need to contact your congressional representative to acquire tickets.
Tickets are free, but not easy to get.
The non-ticketed area (The Mall) does not include seats, so a blanket is advisable. There will be Trinitron Monitors to view the ceremony
Expect to see thousands of porta-potties lining the roads of the Capitol.
It has been suggested that you may wish to bring a little of your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer
There are indoor, heated restrooms at Union Station where our coaches will be parked for the duration.
Each bus has onboard restroom facilities if needed, but using the facilities at the scheduled rest stops is highly preferred
We highly recommend bringing your own sustenance food, snacks & drinks (both for on the bus and in DC.) You may wish to bring a cooler that you can keep in the "belly" of the coach
There are many fast-food choices in DC, if that's what you like to eat.
See: Fast Food Dining at Union Station
The buses will be stopping briefly at two rest stops in each direction, but going TO DC (in the middle of the night), most of the food shops will be closed. On the return trip, there will likely be long lines (and we only allot minimal time at each stop to grab something quick).
LARGE COOLERS OR LARGE BACKPACKS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON INAUGURATION GROUNDS
There are MANY websites on what to expect in DC on January 20. Average high temperature in January is 43° F.
It could be COLDER - and it could be 65°!
Farmer's Almanac is predicting between
45°-47° - (No Joke!)
There's lots of "advice" everywhere on what to wear, bring
(or leave at home OR on the bus)
